As DC users you’re probably already using streaming audio and video, geolocation, and PDF viewer functionality to spruce up your metadata page display. But did you know that there are many other ways to enrich article pages in Digital Commons? And that you don’t need a complicated embed code to display it, just a standard URL?
One of our favorites, and quickly becoming one of our customers’, too, is ISSUU. You can see ISSUU in action in Colby College’s DigitalCommons@Colby in The Man of Mayflower Hill: A Biography of Franklin W. Johnson.
How does it work? Digital Commons uses a service called Embed.ly which provides an API to convert standard URLs into embedded videos, images, and rich content previews—you have over 200 providers, including ISSUU, to choose from.
