2017 will be another big year for bepress developments. In addition to increasing support for faculty and researcher services through the new Expert Gallery Suite, we’ll be rolling out features designed to make Digital Commons more visually engaging and simpler to use.
We’re excited to share a few of the Digital Commons projects we’re most excited about, so you can start planning your 2017 collections in ways that take full advantage of new capabilities and features.
Direct Streaming
Whether streaming data, oral histories, or video-based ETDs, you’ve shown us again and again that multimedia is a vital content type. Many of you have requested the option to stream content hosted by Digital Commons in addition to services like YouTube and Vimeo—we are thrilled to share that this feature is on the roadmap for 2017.
ORCID
We recently released support for ORCID research identifiers in SelectedWorks. Later this year we will extend this capacity for Digital Commons, allowing users to capture ORCID and affiliate it with author information and publications.
Content Inventory
Next week we are releasing the Content Inventory, a brand new tool that allows you to generate a comprehensive metadata report for every level of your site. You can also generate a report that tells you the amount of published content in each publication. No more forgetting which publications you want to fill out or hide away until they’re ready for the public!
