Michael Pujals is the Scholarly Communications Librarian and one-man-band making Dominican Scholar sing. In his short webinar entitled “Me, Myself, and I: One IR Manager” he shares how building connections with faculty and staff allows him to gracefully juggle repository management on his own.
Michael has successfully enrolled partners across campus including webmasters, fellow librarians, archivists, and many more stakeholders, communicating the myriad benefits of an IR. He invites students and conference organizers to upload their own content, which saves a lot of time when you’re operating under your own steam. He also discusses best practices with his bepress Consultant on a regular basis: “Lauren is more of a co-worker than technical support. I think of her as the second staff member.” Dominican University of California has 1,900 students and Michael’s staff time on the IR is ¾ FTE.
In a related webinar entitled “It Takes a Village: IR Management Distributed Across the Campus,” Sarah Titus of St. Norbert College shares their distributed staffing model. Read more about how she has successfully enrolled a campus-wide advisory group here.
