Seeing purple? So are we! We are in the process of rolling out the work we have been doing to integrate PlumX Metrics onto Digital Commons. Visitors to Digital Commons record pages can explore a variety of metrics, from citations to news captures, to social media with interactive Plum Prints on the article page.
Increasing support for impact metrics has long been on our radar: we’ve seen the value that so many of you have found in implementing Altmetric badges or PlumX Metrics. At the University of Denver, Application Support Technician Jenelys Cox notes that their Plum Analytics subscription has “helped encourage faculty engagement in the IR” and also provide great impact for a broader array of items like this article on Digital Libraries.
Alex Rolfe, Technical Services and Systems Librarian at George Fox University, is particularly thrilled with the new integration because the library had originally looked into using PlumX Metrics as one way to show that George Fox scholarship is making an impact. Data like social media and news captures are just as crucial indicators of impact as traditional citation data. Alex is looking forward to being able to share this kind of early-stage information with his faculty.
Learn more about PlumX Metrics on Digital Commons in a webinar on May 3, 2018 featuring Digital Commons Product Manager Nicole Johnson and Director of Product Marketing at Plum Analytics, Marianne Parkhill.
PlumX Metrics will continue rolling out on Digital Commons throughout the week. Meanwhile, if you have questions about Plum Analytics, would like more specifics about the impact metrics and how they are captured, continued support for Altmetric (yes it’s still supported!), or anything else related to research metrics, feel free to reach out to your consultant at dc-support@bepress.com.
