Newly released from beta, the Expert Gallery Suite includes a number of features designed to help libraries simplify and enhance the work of other units on campus. In the coming weeks we’ll be exploring some of these features in depth.
Contact buttons, located front and center on SelectedWorks profiles, make it easy for visitors, including media contacts, to reach out to faculty. In addition, back-end settings allow the library and other campus units to track and manage requests. At Dominican University, Scholarly Communications Librarian Michael Pujals has added his own email and the marketing department’s emails to receive notifications. Raizel Liebler, Head of Faculty Scholarly Initiatives at John Marshall Law School, which receives a high number of requests through their contact button, notes that she appreciates how the feature “lets us stay in the know” of how faculty are being contacted for their expertise.
We’ve heard some exciting feedback about this feature, including inquiries from the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, Le Monde, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While media requests are a big need on many campuses, there are certainly many other reasons users would want to contact authors, from mentorship inquiries to collaboration requests, and more. Check out this short video for a tour of the contact buttons, and if you have any questions, please contact us at dc-support@bepress.com.
